Post-Conference Training:
Send Better Follow-Up Messages
Watch this before you send your “nice to meet you at WBENC!” messages.
Hi! We’re Grace and Casey, writing professors turned WBE Co-Founders. Our company, Bold Type, teaches workplace writing skills. We made this mini training for our fellow conference attendees—enjoy!
You’re probably leaving the conference with a stack of business cards, capabilities statements, QR codes to scan, and email addresses written on napkins. Now it’s time to sit down in the airport lounge and send everyone the follow-up note you promised them.
You put a lot of effort into networking at the conference, and you’re going to put a lot of time into sending LinkedIn requests and emails. But what if you send a note and… crickets?
We’ve got you! Before you send your follow-ups, take 25 minutes to watch this recorded training on the dos and don’ts of successful outreach messages.
We’ll teach you how to make it easy for recipients to say “yes” to connecting, following up, or collaborating with you.
"I missed this live workshop but saw the replay, and I am so glad I did. There are a lot of webinars on networking and I didn't know how much more could be said, but this one is different. There were so many helpful tips about following up with people, including even details about how to appropriately word an email or LinkedIn message. I definitely realized I was doing some things incorrectly...but not anymore!”
—Jean Humbrecht, Founder & CEO, Humbrecht Law
You’ll learn to:
Use audience awareness to define a specific goal for each follow-up message you send
Guide your reader to the response you need, making it easy for them to continue the conversation
Strike the right tone, make a good impression, and safeguard your personal brand
“I sent two emails this afternoon and I feel like they were so much stronger from having attended today. (One was my "last time before I give up” email and I feel good knowing that even if they don’t respond to it, I engaged them in the best way possible.) Thanks again for empowering us to be better writers!!”
